NEW PATIENTS
We Take Your Time Seriously
At Live Well Chiropractic, the DOT physical is designed to be as smooth and stress-free as possible. The exam typically takes between 30 minutes and one hour. We work hard to ensure that there’s no waiting around so you can be in and out as efficiently as possible.
Whether you’re a first-time applicant or coming in for a renewal, you can expect a calm, professional environment and an examiner who will answer your questions clearly along the way.
What the DOT Physical Covers
The exam is comprehensive but structured, moving through each required component in a logical sequence.
Your examiner will review your health history, check your vision and hearing, evaluate your vitals, collect a urinalysis sample, and perform a heart and lung evaluation along with a spinal screening.
Each component is required by federal standards, and results are documented on the official FMCSA Medical Examination Report form.
Coming Prepared Makes the Process Smoother
A little preparation before your appointment goes a long way. To keep your exam moving efficiently, bring the following:
- A complete list of your current medications and their dosages
- Contact information (name, phone number, and address) for any physicians you currently work with
- Any condition-specific documentation, such as blood sugar logs if you have diabetes or CPAP compliance records if you have sleep apnea
- Your current glasses or contact lens prescription, if applicable
- Hearing aids, if you use them
What to Expect After the Exam
If you meet the FMCSA health standards, we’ll complete the Medical Examiner’s Certificate right away. Certification periods vary depending on your health status, ranging from 90 days to two years.
If a condition requires further evaluation or documentation, we’ll walk you through the next steps clearly so you know exactly what’s needed to move forward.
